Non-Pharmacological Treatment of ADHD: What Works, for Whom, and When?

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder that often requires long-term, multimodal management. Although pharmacotherapy remains an important component of evidence-based treatment, non-pharmacological interventions play a critical role in addressing functional impairment, supporting families, improving adherence, and meeting the needs of children and adolescents for whom medication is insufficient, poorly tolerated, unavailable, or not preferred. 

This webinar will provide a concise, evidence-based overview of non-pharmacological treatments for ADHD in children and adolescents, including behavioral parent training, school-based interventions, executive-function skills training, cognitive behavioral approaches, and lifestyle modifications such as sleep, physical activity, and environmental changes. It will also critically review emerging interventions such as cognitive training, neurofeedback, and digital therapeutics, with particular emphasis on distinguishing improvements in core ADHD symptoms from broader functional outcomes, including academic performance, family functioning, peer relationships, and emotional regulation. Finally, the webinar will address how these approaches can be integrated with pharmacotherapy in clinical practice to provide individualized, multimodal treatment for children and adolescents with ADHD.
