Objectives:
1. Identify and prioritize the key shared challenges facing child and adolescent inpatient psychiatry across different global and resource settings.
2. Evaluate practical opportunities for international collaboration, including knowledge-sharing, mentorship, research and quality-improvement initiatives.
3. Define actionable priorities for the SIG and describe how members can contribute through working groups, shared resources, and collaborative projects.
Following the inaugural IACAPAP SIG webinar, this second session moves the conversation from identifying shared challenges to developing practical, collaborative solutions.
Bringing together clinicians, researchers and service leaders, the webinar will explore priority areas for international cooperation in child and adolescent inpatient psychiatry. Participants will consider how the SIG can advance knowledge-sharing, mentorship, research, quality improvement, and the development of shared resources across diverse cultural and resource settings.
The session aims to help shape an inclusive and achievable international agenda for safer, family-centered, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented inpatient care for children and adolescents.

Olabode Akintan (Bode), MD FRCPC MBA

Dr. Akintan is a graduate of the University of Jos Medical school in Nigeria. He completed his residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical System and went on to complete a Child Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Maryland / Sheppard Pratt Hospital program in the USA, serving as Chief in his final year.
He moved to Canada and was appointed Assistant Professor at McMaster University and working at McMaster Children's Hospital for over a dozen years, serving as medical director for the inpatient service and emergency psychiatry services. He then moved to University of Toronto to take on a faculty position and as staff psychiatrist at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), where his primary clinical responsibility is on the inpatient service.
He serves as the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education in the Division of Child and Youth Mental Health, University of Toronto. He is also on staff at Timmins and District Hospital, in Timmins, Ontario where he developed a unique model for virtual inpatient care delivery. He completed a Dual MBA program at Cornell university and Queens university in 2015.
