Yukiko Kano, MD, PhD

Dr. Yukiko Kano is Associate Professor in Department of Child Neuropsychiatry, Graduate School of Medicine, The University of Tokyo, and Director in Department of Child Psychiatry, The University of Tokyo Hospital. She treats various child and adolescent patients including those with developmental disorders at The University of Tokyo Hospital, and also conducts education and research on child and adolescent psychiatry.

 

Dr. Kano is one of the Directors of the Japanese Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, a board member of several academic societies related to child and adolescent psychiatry and mental health in Japan, and the Secretary General of the Asian Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (ASCAPAP).

 

Dr. Kano has a strong interest in compulsivity and impulsivity with a focus on Tourette syndrome, other tic disorders, and tic-related OCD, and conducts multifaceted research on them. She is also interested in school mental health and family support as well as appropriate understanding and support of developmental disorders such as ADHD and ASD.

 

Dr. Kano has co-authored about 80 papers published in peer review international journals. She has published more than 200 review articles and commentaries in Japanese.
