Andrés Román-Jarrín

Dr. Andrés Román-Jarrín is an Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist from Ecuador with extensive international clinical, academic, and research training. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador, and subsequently completed his residency in General Adult Psychiatry at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain.
He later pursued advanced subspecialty training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, completing his fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in the United States. Dr. Román-Jarrín holds a Master of Science in Mental Health Research from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is currently pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Research at the University of Seville, Spain. He is Board-Certified by the European Board of Psychiatry and has completed several specialized international trainings, including programs in psychopharmacology, child psychotherapy, mind-body medicine, and interventional psychiatry.
His academic work includes contributions to peer-reviewed publications and international conferences, with current research interests focused on neurodevelopment, early life stress, and child and adolescent mental health outcomes. In parallel with his clinical and research work, he has actively engaged in several international early career programs, including the IACAPAP Helmut Remschmidt Research Seminar Fellowship and the IACAPAP Donald J. Cohen Fellowship Program.
He is looking forward to embarking on this new adventure as Coordinator of the Early Career Group with IACAPAP, where he hopes to support the early journey of clinicians and academics in child and adolescent mental health and remain an active contributor to IACAPAP through international collaboration and professional growth.
