By: Laura James, CACAP Communications and Development Manager

The 45th Annual Conference of the Canadian Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CACAP) is more than just a national meeting; it’s a call to action. This year’s theme is  “It Takes a Village: Canadian Collaborations in Child and Youth Psychiatry Care and Research,” and will spotlight the power of connection, shared expertise, and collective innovation in addressing the growing mental health challenges faced by children and youth across Canada.

Hosted in the vibrant and welcoming city of St. John’s, Newfoundland, the conference brings together a multidisciplinary community of over 250 psychiatrists, family physicians, pediatricians, psychologists, nurses, educators, and other mental health professionals, all united by a common purpose: improving the lives and futures of young people.

Over three days, participants will engage in a rich program of keynote presentations, symposia, workshops, and networking sessions led by leading experts in the field. Topics will explore innovative research, clinical practice, system-level collaboration, and culturally informed approaches to care. Whether you are a clinician, researcher, policymaker, or advocate, this conference offers an unparalleled opportunity to exchange ideas, gain new insights, and strengthen partnerships that drive real-world impact.

As Canada faces an unprecedented youth mental health crisis, the need for collaboration has never been greater. The CACAP Annual Conference provides a platform for shared learning and coordinated action where knowledge meets compassion, and where solutions are built together.

Join us in St. John’s, or connect online, to be part of this national movement advancing child and adolescent mental health. Together, we can build stronger systems, healthier communities, and brighter futures for Canada’s young people.
