Virtual Training Course 2026 - Psychological First Aid

We are pleased to announce that the virtual training course - Psychological First Aid (PFA), which provides an approach to helping kids, teens, and families in the immediate aftermath of a disaster, will be conducted in February with the collaboration of the Network for Enhancing Wellness in Disaster-Affected Youth (NEW DAY).  

This virtual training course is exclusively for IACAPAP members. 

   February 3^rd, 2026 (Tuesday), 12:00 PM CET

   February 12^th & February 13^th, 2026 (Thursday & Friday)

Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an evidence-informed modular approach to help children, adolescents, adults, and families in the immediate aftermath of disaster and terrorism. PFA is designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events and to foster short- and long-term adaptive functioning and coping. Principles and techniques of PFA meet four basic standards. They are: 1) consistent with research evidence on risk and resilience following trauma; 2) applicable and practical in field settings; 3) appropriate for developmental levels across the lifespan; and 4) culturally informed and delivered in a flexible manner. The PFA training will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to use PFA in the aftermath of disasters/terrorism with survivors.

Learning objectives:
By the completion of the training, participants will be able to:

1. Discuss the purpose of PFA after disasters/terrorism.
2. Identify who can provide PFA after disasters/terrorism.
3. List at least 4 common reactions of adults/children after disasters/terrorism
4. List at least 4 of the 8 steps to PFA
5. Discuss the importance of self-care for the PFA-provider.
    

Participants who complete the course with full attendance on February 12^th & 13^th, 2026, will receive an e-certificate of training completion.

1. Participation is free, but registration is required in advance. Seats are limited, and it's based on first-come, first-served. 
2. After registration, you will receive a notification confirming whether your course registration has been accepted or rejected within two working days.
3. By registering for a virtual training course, you consent to your registration details being provided to IACAPAP for the purposes of virtual training preparation.
