Marie-José van Hoof, MD, PhD, MSc

Marie-José van Hoof is a child and adolescent and adult psychiatrist, psychotraumatherapist and orthopedagoge. She founded and directs iMindU GGZ, an innovative recovery mental health institution in Leiden as valorisation of her PhD study ‘Unresolved-disorganized attachment, psychopathology, and the adolescent brain’. She is an editor to the Dutch Journal for Psychotherapy, initiator and chair of the expertgroup on Trauma & Child abuse, cluster member guidelines Maltreatment Federation Medical Specialists, chair psychotherapy section Dutch Society for Psychiatry, initiator and chair of the IACAPAP Special Interest Group on Coercive Control (including child abuse and neglect and domestic violence) and has been elected Vice-president to the IACAPAP Executive Committee 2026-2030.
