Dr. Ayotunde Omotoso is one of West Africa's leading voices in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Through his leadership in clinical practice, academia, research, and policy, he is helping shape the future of child and adolescent mental health across Africa.
 

He is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Senior Lecturer at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and Fellow of the West African College of Physicians. He holds a Master’s Degree in Child and Adolescent Mental Health from the University of Ibadan and a Diploma in Human Resources Management from the University of Ilorin.

His leadership extends across regional and international professional organisations. He serves as Vice President of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and Allied Professions (IACAPAP), President of the African Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, President of the Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists and Allied Professions (ACAPAN), and Examiner for the West African College of Physicians.

His research focuses on child and adolescent mental health, school mental health, adolescent substance use, mental health systems, and service development in low- and middle-income countries. He has authored and co-authored more than 25 scientific publications in national and international journals.

His work has been featured at international scientific meetings across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. His contributions to global mental health have earned him several honours, including the Leadership Award from the Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health, University of Ibadan, and the Award for Exemplary Service in Medical Leadership from the Office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Beyond academia, Dr. Omotoso is passionate about translating mental health knowledge into community impact. He is the Founder of Yours Mindfully, a mental health initiative, and serves as Resident Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Ilorin. For Dr. Omotoso, excellence finds its highest expression in service.
