Uttara Chari, B. Sp. Ed., M. Phil., Ph. D.

Dr. Uttara Chari is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Special Educator and currently serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore, India. In her clinical practice, she works with children and adolescents across the socioeconomic spectrum, addressing adjustment to physical health conditions, mental health disorders, identity concerns, and life transitions. Her psychodynamically informed practice is guided by a relational framework grounded in attachment theory and intrapsychic processes.
As an academic, Dr. Chari teaches undergraduate and postgraduate psychology courses and supervises clinical casework. Her research spans pediatric psycho-oncology, adolescent depression, digital mental health, resilience, attachment, and psychotherapeutic interventions.
Dr. Chari is committed to reducing disparities in child and adolescent mental health care. This commitment is reflected in her contributions to international conferences, peer-reviewed publications, editorial leadership of the IACAPAP e-Textbook, and research recognized through competitive grants and awards.
